I gained five pounds.
But lost an inch on my waist.
And went down a belt hole.
figure that one out.

w00t
I've probably used this title before...
So it's day 4 of 6 (maybe I'll add a week) for Cardio X. I think my tummy is a little less of what it used to be.
And I can fit into my next-size down jeans!! Size 15!! I'm making obvious progress!! AND THEY'RE LOOSE!!!

so yeah
it's been a little difficult to keep up with the blogging portion of my weight loss journey. Mostly because I don't feel like typing after all the exercise.
I haven't really seen much improvement lately. I took a week off while visiting my family in Kansas City for a death. I just didn't have the desire, even the energy, to put on my running shoes and go for a jog or do some yoga. I did A LOT of driving. And while I know exactly where my Grandiemaw went, I still miss her, and it still hurts.
I decided to do a week of Cardio X only. I want to see if that will help get rid of the gut that gets in the way of everything. I did that yesterday and today. While there is no visual difference, it still felt like my belly was a little tighter.
...I really don't want to cut back my rice intake...
Man, I'm hungry.

long time...
So I'm still noticing more changes in my appearance. But the scale says I'm still at 191. It's incredibly frustrating. P90X is difficult, too, and to keep up with every day. I skipped two days last week, work is getting the better of me.
I'm thinking about starting the Sassy water diet, just adding it to how I'm already dieting. I didn't want to pay the fees to "buy" the Flat Belly Diet... it seems to be what people are raving about.
I know that I can't lose the belly fat if I only build muscle. But muscle helps burn fat faster. My core is weak, too. I'm also thinking about upping my Cardio, maybe adding the Cardio X routine two or three times a week.
AND I AM HUNGRY!!

Sunday Kenpo
Monday Core
Tuesday Cardio
Wednesday Shoulders, Arms and Abs
Thursday YOGA
Friday Legs, Back and Abs
Saturday break
Sunday Kenpo
I can't remember which days I skipped last week, but I did skip two. And I did not do abs on Friday. Wednesday, I steam cleaned the entire apartment. I moved all of the furniture and put a whole bunch of stuff away. I think that counts as a work out, I was exhausted at the end of the day.
I've been noticing more and more improvement in the routines. I can do more pushups and kicks. AND I'VE ACTUALLY SEEN A BEAD OF SWEAT FORM ON MY BODY!!!! See, it's actually working :)

tiny little changes
Monday=Core
Tuesday=Cardio
Wednesday=Shoulders, Arms, and Abs
Thursday=YOGA ( got half-way through it, had to get to work)
Friday= Legs, back and Abs
Tomorrow=KENPO!!!!
Today's abs... were so awesome. I did twelve reps of each move. AWESOME. Things are getting easier to do. I'm noticing that it's easier to bend over and pick stuff up or put stuff down. I'm loving the chocolate milk recovery.
I've been sick most of this week, so working out has been tough. Today I'm much better than I have been, but there's still some phlegm stuck somewhere. AND I FEEL AMAZING!!
I'm noticing tiny little changes in my body, the way clothes fit, etc... I know that I'm losing weight and that P90X is working. And I know that I am working hard enough.
The doctor I went to see is kinda nuts. The first time, last week, he gave me a Z-pack and said "your lungs sound fine." I did not realize that coughing up mucus and wheezing like a fat pug dog meant that my lungs were fine. He said the same thing this week about my lungs. And I'm waking up in the middle of the night coughing so bad that my husband wakes up freaking out.
"You might have exercise-induced asthma." Right. Because the thousands of dollars I spent on tests to GET INTO THE MILITARY -- to clear my medical record-- proving that I DO NOT have asthma were a total waste. Right. "You should also try some Prilosec, you might have some acid reflux disease." Look, seriously, pick a diagnosis. Be definite about it. I don't have heart burn before or after working out, eating spicy food or ANYTHING. People get bronchitis. Prescribe bronchitis medication. Check your hearing and GO BACK TO SCHOOL. ... doctors... I don't have a medical degree or license, but I know that I am legitimately sick. I do not have asthma. Or heart burn. And my allergies to CATS are controlled by the medicine I take daily. //endrant

Good evening, folks.
Today I repeated the Core work out. My glutes kinda hurt from the squats.
In every movement of my body I can feel the new muscles moving. It's kind of encouraging :)
how's your progress?

the burning
oh the burning...
Monday=Core
Tuesday=Cardio
Wednesday=Shoulders, Arms and Abs
Thursday=Yoga
Friday=Legs, Back and Abs
Saturday= got up late, way too late to work out, so I counted it as my rest day. Worked a long, tiring, slow shift, though.
Sunday= EASTER! Hiding eggs for the little cousins, then chasing them around pointing them out... then KENPO X!!!!!! ... after an hour nap, because, after all, I did get up at 6:30 for church :)
After this evening's festivities, I felt really drained, so I was looking for some "recovery drink" ideas... especially an option that did not cost 60 dollars a month to imbibe. Now, around the interwebs, folks are touting and discouraging the dose of chocolate milk post-work out. Let me help you with this. DO IT. Throw all of your preconceived notions about sugars and carbs and such OUT THE FREAKING WINDOW. Seriously, guys. Your body needs sugar, carbs, protein and CALORIES, especially after a work out. More so after such an intense work out like P90X.
If you're feeling guilty, throw in a scoop of slimfast or protein powder. Just protein powder. You don't need those hard core bulk-me-up additives. Your body really can only absorb so much protein at a time. Don't waste your money. Chocolate milk. CHOCOLATE MILK. Say it with me now...
Also, it's on sale at Meijer this week for 1.99 a gallon. (It was 4.39 last week!)
Thanks for following and coming up to me personally :) I really do find it encouraging, and it makes me wanna do more to make YOU proud of me.

I AM SWEATY
45 minutes!!!
More than I have been with the WiiFit workouts. And I'm sick on top of that. It wasn't difficult to get up this morning to work out, though. I knew I had to do it.

ROCKSPLOSION
ONE HOUR of P90X
my first hour of action. Yesterday was my "first day," I started it this way so that I could have Sunday as my day of rest, as our God intended. There is an option to add a stretch routine in, too.
Now I'm not going full tilt yet. I'm not strong enough. And that's okay. As long as I keep this up, I'll be strong enough in 90 days to kick some serious booty. Not that I will. It's a power thing. lol
Half way through the work out, I broke a resistance band. I guess I get what I pay for, but there was no warning label about stretch length on the packaging. I might have to just pick up extra freeweights or something.
I have a welt on my tummy and it HURTS!

I'M BAAAACK
Sorry, readers, I needed to take a break and deal with my attitude about losing weight. It's frustrating when I see other gals losing weight and getting healthy ... and not to mention the tiny little things I see everywhere... and my stumbling block is food! Not so much bad food, or that I eat too much, it's more that I feel like I'm gaining more weight just by eating anything.
I started eating more sashimi at work, that's fish sans rice, and trying to avoid eating anything else throughout the day. I have my power bars, and I have bananas and pears that I can snack on, too. And I feel like I'm getting behind by having a rest day.
So, April 1st will mark the beginning of P90X fitness and nutrition. (I just have to find the nutrition guide.) I've done good so far this month not buying anything unnecessary, so we can save money... and that's why I'm starting 4/1, I don't have the pull-up bar for workouts yet. My goal is to be a size 10 by August 1, which is more realistic than a size 5. ( I want to be a size 5 by December 1.) Now, I realized AFTER we made the pact to do the P90X system that 90 days means July 1st not August 1st... but I guess that gives us the challenge of maintaining the weightloss and tone :)
yesterday I did about an hour of yoga.
The day before, I did not do anything.
Monday, I went to hang out and do PILATES with Autumn D. We ran outside in the rain...well, we mostly walked, but there was some jogging!
Sunday, I got no sleep, went to first service with my husband and then took a nap.
Saturday, I did not work out before work.
Friday, I had to be at work at 11:00 for training, I think I did a little warm up run.
I haven't touched the wiiFit since Friday, I'm not very happy with it's judgemental, chipper little voice. It's still saying "that's obese" when I weigh in. Not very encouraging. Thanks, Nintendo.

mood swings
5 minute warm up + 10 minute jog + 10 minute hulahoop + attempt at a 5 minute cool down
I @#$@$^# HATE BIRTH CONTROL PILLS
My lady bits are extremely tender and have swollen. I find myself getting super pissed off at the slightest thing. My sports bras are not supportive enough. I'm not losing any weight. I've been at 191 and bouncing up to 194 every other day. I'm always tired. ALWAYS. I have hot flashes at night. My body temperature is a solid degree higher than normal, and has been for a month. I WANT TO DESTROY EVERYTHING!!!
No, I am not pregnant. Don't ask. It's insulting.
I purchased this wiifit belt that is supposed to hold the Wii remote while you're working out. The damn belt slips every where, making the motion sensors inaccurate. The only two places it works are around my waist, which is uncomfortable, and around my boobs.... which makes it so I can't breathe. And the damn velcro isn't sewn in properly, so the edges rub up against my arms. AND the damn pocket that holds the remote IS OPEN so the remote FALLS OUT. How did this product get past testing?
I want to swear and throw stuff.
Hopefully tomorrow I'm less pissed off.

high scores
Good afternoon!!!
Got up around 9:30 for my chiropractor appointment. Breakfast shake and a banana...
5 minute warm up + 10 minute jog + 10 minute hula hoop + 5 minute cool down + 30 minutes of random balance games
Lunch was a little pot pie, a couple of taquito roll dealies, a banana and a cadbury egg :)
What's been driving me crazy lately is the high scores that are on our WiiFit. It's discouraging when I try some things and, while I think I do well, the scores severely surpass my own.
In any case, my stomach is kinda sore from the hula hooping :)

I FEEL FANTASTIC
Got up at 9 without an alarm! When I was younger, it didn't matter what time zone I was in or how late I stayed up, I would get up right at 9 am.
I think I may need to bump up my aerobics... my biceps are getting bigger but they feel suffocated or constricted. I think it may be that there's still a lot of fat left on my arms.
5 minute warm up + 10 minute jog + 5 minute cool down + 20 minute yoga
Lighter work out today, Husband has to do his homework so I couldn't be on the big TV that long. (Our main computer is hooked up to the big screen, and so is the Wii.)
Breakfast was a shake, vitamins went down well today.
Lunch today was half a box of spiral macaroni. I made the whole box, and I usually eat the whole box, but half way through, I wasn't that hungry.
Lunch yesterday was a DiGiorno thin crust pizza, and I had the left overs for dinner. I had some baked chicken later.

Dontcha hate it when...
I really really hate it when someone says "there's no way you're almost 200 pounds!"
ARE YOU BLEEPING KIDDING ME!?!? Get on the scale with me. Seriously. Call my doctor. My chiropractor even has a record of my weight. Don't you know that black is slimming?
This is not the first time in my life I've been this size. When I was in 8th grade, we'd been moving every few months and the food was never healthy. I actually think I'm a little bigger now than I was then. Freshman year of high school, I was a size 14. By the end of that year, I was a size 10. Freshman year of college, I was a size 5. Stress does awful things to your body.
I wish, then, that I had the mind to run and work out on a regular basis. Now, I was in the AFROTC, and I weighed 119 pounds, two pounds more than their minimum for my BMI. And I could not do pushups correctly, and I couldn't pound out more than ten situps. I couldn't run. I was out of shape, but I was tiny. I do miss that body, but I never felt good. And I was depressed.
Funny what good food and happiness will do to your waistline, eh? :)
September 2006, size 5
This size ON MY OWN TERMS
I always feel taller
More tall? Taller? Idk...
I always feel a little taller, more statuesque after a bit of yoga.
Breakfast was a shake and a banana. Yesterday's lunch was a pot pie and a brownie, dinner was two salmon rolls and later two pieces of salmon nigiri and a bowl of fried rice.
5 minute warm up + 10 minute brisk jog + 10 minute hula hoop + 5 minute cool down + 10 minute yoga
with stretching all throughout!!!
I think all this exercise is raising my body temperature, it's always too hot at night to sleep! And I froze all the time.
I have to say, I am more than a little jealous of my counterparts who are losing weight faster than I am. I'm still at 191. Keeping my diet strict is difficult with my job, though. I truly love Spicy California rolls, but maybe I should be cutting out some mayo from my diet, too? I'm trying to eat more salmon to get more protein in my body. What do you think?
My Vibram Five Fingers shoes should come in today!!! And I fully plan on taking it slow with those... and not running in them for a very very long time... I don't want to injure my feetsies :)

NOT FOR MEN
I realize, by posting the title as "NOT FOR MEN," you males will still look at this. Let me be clear, this blog contains information and griping that you DO NOT want to know about. The following message is complete and total honesty and it's pretty disgusting. And only women will be able to handle it. This is not a challenge to you, gentlemen, it is fair warning. So, if you continue reading, it is at your own risk.
Yes, I also realize that if you are a man, the likelihood that you read this blog is small. And I also realize that you may not be reading the whole thing, and will automatically come to the part that will gross you out. It's Murphy's Law, it WILL happen... so just stop.
Yesterday, my left calf was still bugging me, so I spent the day doing some not-so-light shopping. And I feel guilty for that...
This morning's breakfast consisted of a shake and a power bar.
5 minute warm up + 10 minute moderate jog + 6 minutes hula hoop + 5 minute cool down + 3 minute balance game + 20 minutes of an hour-long INTENSE yoga work out. My arms were starting to shake really bad so I decided not to push TOO hard. But I did notice that I'm able to do most of the poses in time with the instructor.
The Wii said I gained four pounds from yesterday's couch riding. I didn't. Aunt Flo is taking a ride, adding a few extra water pounds where she's not really wanted. I don't know how long she's sticking around this time, she was on vacation for a few months and I'm guessing she's feeling like over-staying her welcome. I really did miss her after a while, but she gets on my nerves fairly quickly. At least it's not as painful as it could've been... but it's not over yet.
Today, I'm setting up a grocery list to stick to fervently. Like, "this is what we need, get only this or you will pay," kind of grocery list. No more eating out, no buying alcohol (I kinda stocked up) no toiletry needs, no household desires... now let's see if I can get myself to start making lunches for Husband...
Also, I've noticed my hip bones are making a reappearance. I'm loving it. My pants are fitting better, too!!

No more eating out, no buying alcohol (I kinda stocked up) no toiletry needs, no household desires... now let's see if I can get myself to start making lunches for Husband...
Also, I've noticed my hip bones are making a reappearance. I'm loving it. My pants are fitting better, too!!

breakfast not so much
5 minute warm up + 10 minute brisk jog, set personal record of 1.517 miles + 5 pushups + 5 situps (no ball)
apparently I can't run without having had my shake... at the last leg of my warm up, my tummy went "are you freaking crazy!?!?!??" and tried to toss up my vitamins... fabulous... so I chugged a shake and went along my merry way with my jog.... really sweaty again, LOVE IT
this is better than coffee :)

workout with Autumn D
5 minute warm up + stretch + 15 minute FAST elliptical.... the fitness center at my complex just installed two ellipticals. It's FABULOUS!! I was red faced and sweaty at my 5 minute mark.
Breakfast again was a slimfast shake... leftover vanilla...
Autumn D came over at 11 like we'd planned. We were supposed to go swimming after running... but she forgot her swim clothes :( it's okay though, I had a second reason to NOT go swimming. We did some light yoga after (she actually ellipt'd for 25 minutes!! she went straight through while I was stretching) and I made some HEARTY biscuits and gravy...
come to think... Have you ever eaten something and choked it down just to be polite? I understand the niceties and I do appreciate it... but how is food supposed to get any better if no one is brave enough to mention that there's something missing? I would honestly like to know if I've made something that you aren't a fan of; and I can make you something else, or there's plenty of frozen food, too. If you don't like it, you really don't have to eat it. (I'm being totally sincere here, I'm not trying to be snippy or sarcastic at all.) Secondly, if you're full, don't continue eating. Don't eat til you're stuffed, don't lick your plate clean if you really can't bear to eat any more. Don't push your stomach. If it's really uncomfortable with your jeans, you've already gone too far.

take with food
ALLO!
Got up this morning at 9 am!!! Even though Husband and I were both able to sleep in, we just couldn't sleep past 9.
Breakfast was a shake, as usual... however, I didn't drink it til 10 when, after taking my vitamins and that green tea supplement, I began to feel nauseated. The label says to TAKE WITH FOOD... I don't usually HAVE to with any other medications, like some pain killers, but this green tea stuff is WHOA. As soon as I chugged that shake, my tummy was quiet :)
5 minute warm up + stretch + began a 20 minute jog, accidentally quit out at 5 minutes, so I went back to a 10 minute jog and pushed my time a little harder + 6 minutes of INTENSE hula hooping (3 minutes on each side) + TEN OF EACH sit ups and reverse crunches on the ball AS WELL AS TEN MODIFIED PUSHUPS immediately following my hulahooping. YAY FOR INTENSITY!
I had a first today: sweat dripping down my face. I love this!!!
Lunch today will be some Orange chicken IN THE OVEN and some Patty-made fried rice
Dinner may be something from Buffalo Wild Wings... something light, likely... because there may be more cake!
My husband is awesome, by the way... you're totally jealous :)

BIRTHDAY STUFFFFF
Got up late this morning (11am) for no good reason other than my birthday :D Husband had the day off because of the weather... so I kicked him off the computer after having my vitamins and breakfast shake.
Pookie at 8 weeks in 2005
5 minute warm up + stretch + 20 minute jog + stretch + 6 minutes hula hoop + 5 ball sit ups + 5 reverse ball situps
I looked at my progress on the Wii. (It's something nice about the console.) Since Jan 17, I've been working out every day. Now, I'm not pushing myself too hard, not burning out or anything. And I take Sundays off most weeks, but I still feel static and hyper because I have all this energy now... And since Jan 17 I've gone between 187 and 194. Today, I weigh 190.5 pounds. We also put Pookie on the Wii board. She weighs 13 pounds. I love my furry basketball :)

super sweaty
GOOD MORNING! ... wait... ok... good afternoon
So I got up late (11am) because the husband was dealing with some allergies in a very noisy way last night. And I found myself famished around 4 am, too. So I busted out the breathe-right strips and ate a banana with a VERY cold glass of milk. (so cold)
Breakfast was a 200 calorie shake. MMMMM!! Along with ANOTHER banana.
5 minute warm up + stretch + 20 minute jog (2.887 miles!!) + stretch + 6 sit-ups + 6 mintues hula hoop
wiiFit says I lost two pounds since yesterday!!
I feel disgusting but I LOVE IT
Current weight: 191

wiiFit remorse
I'm thinking the wiiFit might not be enough... I'm loving the workout IN MY HOME, with the humidifier going so I can breathe... but should I be on a treadmill?
2/22
5 minute warm up jog, stretch + 20 minute jog + 5 consecutive situps... wasn't that sweaty though. I want to improve my situps, maybe get to 30 without stopping?
Shake for breakfast, too... which is really easy to stick with :) the strawberry flavor is YUMMY!! Pot pie in the oven for lunch, as well as a banana and some yogurt. I have no idea what's in store for dinner... my lunch and breakfast are already late today. Maybe I'll grab a sub on the way to worship practice?
Definitely putting some brownies in the oven tonight though :D
wiiFit said I lost 1.8 pounds. I've been doing the wii at the same time every day to keep things accurate...

mission statement
so... I'd like to lose at least 50 pounds... but let's be realistic. I want to lose ONE pound and KEEP IT OFF!! It's driving me crazy. I'll start one day three pounds lighter, then the next day will show I've gained it all back with extra!! What's the deal?
This is why I'm going to journal EVERYTHING that I eat and EVERY movement I make. I have a pedometer, and I've gathered resources to count calories... something I've been against for years.
Current weight: 194
Goal weight: 144
BMI information is of the opinion I should be around ten pounds lighter than my goal weight. I'm expecting to gain muscle though this journey, however... whee
GOAL TO BE THE SIZE I WAS IN THIS PHOTO

GOAL TO BE THE SIZE I WAS IN THIS PHOTO
today, I did a 5 minute warm up run at my "ideal" sprintish level, then I stretched my legs... apparently if I don't, it makes my ankles and toes and everything hurt :( Followed this with a 10 minute brisk jog... because I looked at the clock screaming 9:23am at me, realizing I didn't have time for my usual 20 minute jog.
I had that wonderful strawberry slimfast shake for breakfast, I double them up because I can never seem to not be starving after only one. (wonderful sentence structure, eh?) I took my vitamins this morning, as well as this green tea weight loss supplement I'm trying... let's see if it helps any...
the Wii console said I gained .2 pounds since yesterday... let's hope it's just the muscles growing in my booty
